Commencement: 2023

The new $16 million helicopter land site (HLS) as recently been completed at the Launceston General Hospital.
The LGH HLS was a fast tracked project to replace the existing land site in the adjacent Okerby Gardens, which was condemned by the helicopter pilots.
JMG completed the structural and civil engineering design for the project, which included the following services:
Review and strengthening of the existing LGH multi-storey car park to accommodate the proposed helipad and helicopter loads
New helipad sub-structure
New lift tower, triage room and support to the sky bridge
Ground level undercover walkway
Alterations to car parking, retaining walls, pedestrian walkways & inground services.
The project design and installation was delivered in a short period of time, requiring a dynamic and evolving design phase engineering design, which JMG was able to deliver to achieve the project program.
Collaborating with the Department of Health on this project was a rewarding experience. Their commitment to enhancing emergency medical services in the community was evident from the outset. The Department's support and vision for the new helicopter land site helped guide the project through its complexities, ensuring a successful outcome that ultimately benefits the broader Tasmanian community.
